Did you try the local Dominican Meat Market food, yet?
If not, you are missing out!
Today, embarked on a mini trip to GIG Meat Market on Blountstown Hwy in Tallahassee, Florida, where I felt as if I had arrived to a Santo Domingo Bodega.
Indeed, I was in the Caribbean, the friendly people, the greetings, the smiles, the hugs… I was there in our local Santo Domingo. Then, the smell of freshly cook food reminded me of home.
As make a line to get food, the owner Martha, greet me and ask immediately…Did you eat? (I haven’t had breakfast yet with the anticipation that I was going to be visiting the bodega), so I replied… No, no yet, I haven’t had lunch.
She quickly grabs a plate and start serving me some of my favorite food:
Rice and Pigeons Peas, Churrasco/Steak, Fried Plantains and an Avocado Salad…QUE RICO!!!
The food was amazing! The taste was right on point no sauce, no salt, nothing extra needed. I was eating at home.

After I finished, I had a moment to go around the store. They showed me one of my favorite Puerto Rican Sausage aka Longaniza, the new cheeses, veggies and fruits they just got in. They also have big a variety of Hispanic product all over the store.
The prices of the food plates and the meats are economical. You must try...
I’m happy to say that GIG Meat Market is my home away from home, so visit and tell them…Maria Ortiz from Cultura Latina Magazine, recommended their bodega and then, come by and comment about your expirience on this blog! I would love to have your opinion.
Ok, mi gente...Hasta la proxima parada!
